Here we go again
It's with a combination of fear and excitement that I enter into our short but intense rehearsal period tomorrow for the upcoming Moliere Celebration. Fear because one never knows quite how things are going to go. It seems a daunting prospect to be putting together such an intricate piece of music theatre in the space of a week and a half, but we have once again assembled a terrific team of performers and I have every confidence we'll hit the stage next Wednesday night - May 12 - with a great show. I'm excited because this is another instance of first-rate music, theatre and dance coming together on one stage, and doubly excited because of our Quebec contingent who are coming. As always, Marie-Nathalie will be here with her dance troupe: les Jardins Choregraphiques, but she is also bringing actor/singer Dorothea Ventura, actor/singer Isabeau Proux-Lemire (who TMT audiences will remember from his amazing performance in Masques of War) and actor/fencer Jean-Francois Gagnon, who will play Argan in our abridged version of Le Malade Imaginaire.
So, we begin with singers tomorrow, then the actors arrive Tuesday, along with our fantastic harpsichordist Noam Krieger. We'll add cellist Margaret Gay to the mix on Wednesday and, as we get closer to the "tech weekend" the dancers will arrive and we'll put the full band to work.
I will try - though I make no promises! - to add to this blog every day, letting you in on the process as the show takes shape.
I do feel this will be a special production for us, and I urge everyone to get their tickets and spread the word. This one's not to be missed!
That's all for now.
