Orpheus

Just enjoying the last few days of March Break before diving into the various activities of the spring term at school and the busy road ahead for TMT.

The Masque of Irony was a terrific opportunity to play with some new friends - Tim Posgate, Peter Dala and Scott Irvine - and to have a great time with my old buddies Martin Julien and Ben Butterfield. The Randy Newman songs are still resonating in my head, a number of weeks after the event. It will feel weird to hear them sung by Newman himself at Convocation Hall next Saturday. There's alot of interest in touring the Masque of Irony show.....it appears to have a future!

I can't believe my good fortune in assembling such a strong cast for our upcoming Masques of Orpheus. I will do my best to blog about the process as we get nearer to the rehearsal period and performances, but I am already so excited about the prospect of working with Lawrence Wiliford and Peter McGllivray as they make their debut with TMT, and working again with Teri Dunn, Shannon Mercer and Alex Dobson, three first-rate singers who are always a delight to make music with.

The double-bill of operas on the Orpheus legend feature a wide variety of glorious music. You can listen to Les Arts Florrissants' recording of the overture to Charpentier's La Descente.....here:
